New search engine brings PR direct to the consumer

Today brings news that PRWeb (a pioneer in direct-to-consumer press releases) have developed a search engine for consumers to search the many press releases they handle – PRWeb Newspad.

Of course there has been much debate on the ethical pros and cons of PR being published directly (as common practice) via ‘news’ aggregators like Google News.  But innovations like this are unlikely to halt that deluge.

While its debatable whether PR as fed directly to the consumer constitutes ‘news’ (or come to that, if it’s a healthy thing that they should float to the top of online results, where balanced journalism sinks further down), there is no doubting that this source will be helpful for journalists of all kinds searching out stories.

While this source might be good for the search dependent (and those wishing to ‘pull’ ideas for stories), those concerned with specific subjects and fields (and hence ‘push’ services) would do well to use PRWeb Newspad in conjunction with’s PR wires, which offers a good UK-focus.
